BCS Financial recently hosted their fourth National Stop Loss Strategy Conference in Chicago’s historic Wrigleyville neighborhood. The annual conference, this year located at the brand new American Airlines Conference Center adjacent to Wrigley Field, brings together members of the Blue System to discuss the Stop Loss industry, strategy, and emerging trends.
This year’s conference featured 35 attendees representing 17 Blue Plans. On day one, BCS employees kicked off the meeting discussing large claims trends in the Blue Cross Blue Shield System. Blue Health Intelligence (BHI) and BCS presented high-cost claimant information, while Dr. Normal Kato provided some large claim mitigation success stories. Briova Rx joined the group to talk about specialty drug trends and cost mitigation opportunities. On day two of the meeting, BMS Intermediaries started everyone off with a global reinsurance update followed by Mercer & Gallagher holding an open discussion on consultant views of the Stop Loss market. Breakout sessions were hosted on both days to dive deeper on various topics, and everyone came together on day two to answer questions submitted by the group.
