With more than three decades of service (32 years and 8 months, to be exact!), Senior Corporate Services Technician Jamal Mason reflects on the biggest change he’s seen during his tenure at BCS, and how he looks forward to contributing as part of the company’s Diversity & Inclusion Team.
Q: Describe your/your team’s role at BCS.
A: I work in the Corporate Services department. We handle the incoming and outgoing mail, facility-related issues, the receptionist desk, supplies, printing, printing equipment and appliances throughout the company, archived records, and we serve as the liaison to the office of the building (JLL) for BCS. Also, we handle the wellness screenings for BCS.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I enjoy building relationships with our internal and external customers. I enjoy learning new things about the job. I enjoy the interaction with the various departments and the team that I work with.
Q: Are you part of any teams or groups within BCS?
A: Yes, I recently joined the Diversity and Inclusion Team. I look forward to learning more on the topic and interacting with the team, contributing to the culture of diversity and inclusion.
Q: What’s the biggest change you’ve seen at BCS during your tenure?
A: The biggest change I have seen is the culture. There are a lot of teams that contribute to building a better atmosphere and more innovation in the company. I have had the pleasure of working with and learning from some great co-workers and friends over the years. Technology has advanced and just adjusting to the new era and innovations and demands of the market has definitely contributed to the changes.
Q: When you aren’t working, how do you prefer to spend your time?
A: I prefer to spend my time with family and friends, hanging out and enjoying each other’s company. I enjoy sports, especially basketball and football (watching, not playing anymore 😊). I also enjoy listening to music and weather permitting, walking and jogging on the lakefront. I also enjoy watching movies and documentaries.
