BCS is committed to serving local organizations that align with our values related to health and wellbeing, development, education, and learning. The BCS Community Service Team, a group of employees from across the organization, work together to make that happen.

Their mission is to enhance the quality of life in the communities in which BCS team members live and serve through their leadership, financial contributions, and volunteer efforts. To accomplish this, the team establishes corporate policies and practices related to community service and giving, and organizes service and giving opportunities for all BCS associates.

In 2021, they delivered on four key initiatives:

  • Corporate Gift Match Program: The team revamped BCS’s Corporate Gift Match process to make it easier to take advantage of the program. Associates at BCS have a diverse set of backgrounds and values that make each of them unique in their giving. In support of their involvement with community organizations, donations made to qualified organizations will be matched by BCS to double the impact.
  • Tutoring Chicago Spelling Bee: BCS donated $5,000 to Tutoring Chicago to sponsor their virtual spelling bee, and coordinated an internal spelling bee, where $300 was awarded to employees to gift to the charity of their choice.
  • Camp One Step Power of One Challenge: BCS is a proud sponsor of Camp One Step, an organization by Children’s Oncology Services that provides free camp programs to kids facing childhood cancers. For the third year in a row, and their best year yet, BCS participated in the Power of One Challenge, raising over $20,000 and walking nearly 5,000 miles!
  • Tutoring Chicago Operation Santa: BCS employees fulfilled 45 letters for disadvantaged students as part of the Tutoring Chicago Operation Santa initiative.

In 2022, the Community Service Team has several new initiatives planned, including focusing on environmental and social impacts and additional volunteer opportunities. Follow along for exciting activities to demonstrate how #BCSCares!
