At BCS, our mission is to enhance the quality of life in the communities in which we live and serve through our leadership, financial contributions, and volunteer efforts. To accomplish this, we have established corporate policies and practices related to community service and giving, including the organization of service opportunities for our team members.
Habitat for Humanity
The main focus of Habitat for Humanity in our area is to rehab and revitalize neighborhoods. The conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, and play affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks. Volunteer activities include anything it takes to build a home include framing, siding, painting, laying flooring, roofing, trim work, landscaping, etc.
Ronald McDonald House
As a high-cost claims expert, we have seen first-hand how costly many pediatric illnesses including cancer can be. This can cause a huge financial and emotional toll on patients and their families. Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families with sick children to help remove some of the burden. This volunteer opportunity includes meal preparation for families and yard work to clean up the outdoor space.
Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry
Access to nutritious food is considered a critical pathway in influencing many health outcomes. Those who cannot afford or obtain quality food run the risk of developing a variety of conditions or exacerbating illnesses they may already have, and this occurs in minority communities disproportionately. Volunteers will sort food donations, prepare boxes for neighbors, assist with distribution, help with special programs, or work in the vegetable garden.
BCS is committed to serving local organizations that align with our values related to health and wellbeing, development, education, and learning, and we look forward to our 2023 Volunteer Days with these amazing charitable organizations!
