As many business activities start to resume post-COVID, we checked in with Field Marketing Manager, Kendal Sasso about her role at BCS, including any events on the horizon. Kendal shares insight into BCS’s upcoming RiskNavigator Conference (an annual three-day event), how she’s been helping the company adapt to virtual and hybrid events, and what she likes most about her role.
Q: Describe the marketing department in three words.
A: Hardworking. Talented. Essential.
Q: Tell us about a project you are working on.
A: The RiskNavigator Conference is a 3-day event in late August with a focus on Stop Loss, Specialty/Gene Therapies, Regulatory Impacts, and High Cost Claims. We have opted to stay virtual for 2021 and I am currently finalizing topics and speakers with our c-suite team, creating the templates and themes, scheduling meetings, managing the calendar, ordering giveaways – all the fun things associated with an event. Very excited for this year! We have so much great content to share out.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The variety of tasks I support. From event management to campaign strategy to training support – each week is different. I enjoy working with the different teams on cross-functional projects.
Q: What is one professional development skill you are working on?
A: I’ve been attending webinars and reading articles on how to have successful hybrid events. As everything reopens, there will be a need and opportunity to provide both in person and virtual experiences simultaneously. It’ll be important for companies to adapt to this model to maintain a competitive edge and engage their target populations.
Q: What’s the first thing you do after a big event is over?
A: I take a breath and appreciate the amount of work and effort that went into it and thank those who supported/participated. There is so much that happens post event that if I don’t stop at that moment in between, it’ll completely pass by.
